Mitsubishi has released details on its popular Outlander Sport crossover for model year 2013, including pricing information.
The base 2013 Outlander Sport ES starts at $20,120 which includes $950 destination and handling fee. The base model is front-wheel drive and comes equipped with a four-cylinder engine mated to five speed manual transmission. Higher trims drop the manual transmission for a continuously variable automatic transmission and more standard features like heated front seats, rain sensing wipers, and all-wheel drive. Top of the line 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE with all-wheel drive starts at $24,645.
Optional packages include Premium, which includes panoramic sunroof; couple of navigation packages; and an exterior package which adds spoiler, extensions, and alloy fuel door. Mitsubishi made few changes to the Outlander Sport for 2013, most of them external. The 2013 Outlander Sport, well, sports updated grills and bumpers; and standard 18-inch wheels on both trim levels. The Outlander Sport boss a freshened interior. Finally, Mitsubishi has adjusted the Outlander Sport’s suspension and CVT for a more smooth ride.
Production of the 2013 Outlander Sport started this month with dealerships to start receiving the mid-sized crossovers in early August. Mitsubishi will build the Outlander Sport at its U.S. factory in Normal, Illinois, with the intent to sell up to half overseas in different market. The beleaguered automaker aims to produce up to 70,000 units a year; currently, it plans to manufacture around 50,000 units.
A plug-in version of the Mitsubishi Outlander is to debut later this year at the Paris Motor Show.
